Quebec provincial police say two brothers found dead in their home in the Montérégie region on Sunday died of natural causes.

La Sûrete du Québec said autopsies have been conducted on the two bodies found in Saint-Jude, about 70 kilometres east of Montreal, and it appears the elder brother, Jean-Guy Roy, 59, died first.

The younger man, 46-year-old Richard Roy, who was seriously disabled and relied on his older brother for care, died some time later.

Neighbours said Roy’s disability made him unable to care for himself.

Sgt. Ronald McInnis said the bodies had been in the home for several days and were in an advanced state of decomposition.

Police were called to the home Sunday night by relatives of the men.

A family member who was worried after not hearing from the two went to the home around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, but when no one came to the door, the relative contacted police, police said Monday.

When officers entered the home, they found the bodies.
