ORGANIZATION MISSION STATEMENT
Tayside Community Residential and Support Options (TCO) is a not for profit, charitable, community based organization that initiates and provides specific needs based service for children and their families. Tayside Community Residential & Support Options was established in 1989. The original Board of Directors had a vision of an organization that could be responsive to the social need gaps in Perth and district. In 1992, the organization was asked by the Town of Perth and the Ministry of Community and Social Services to assume the operation of the two child care centres in Perth. One was a 4500 square foot, child care centre in St. John Catholic High School and the other was the 5000 square foot child care centre formerly operated by the Town of Perth. These progams are called the Taycare Children’s Centres.
GOVERNANCE
The organization is governed by an 11 member Board of Directors. They are volunteers who live, work or have connections to the Perth community. The Board meets a minimum of ten times a year. The Executive Committee, consisting of the Chair, ViceChair, Secretary, Treasurer and Past Chair have the authority to act on behalf of theBoard when necessary. The terms are structured such that approximately one third of the members terms expire eachyear. The Board looks for individuals who have a tie to the Perth community and have either experience as consumers or family members or consumers of service or experience in a field related to our work or have expertise of value to the organization eg. legal, business, human resources. The Board has the standing committees of developmental services, child care, property,personnel/finance and fundraising.
